Josh Friedberg, the CEO of USA Skateboarding, knows that a partnership with USA Skateboarding can’t just be national, but must begin at the grassroots level. We wanted to diversify and align ourselves with top Olympic and Paralympic sports.” Skateboarding “When we went to the Winter Games in South Korea after we announced our sponsorship as a global partner, we went through NGB portfolios and already had some relationships, like USA Hockey. “We vetted every NGB (National Governing Body) that was out there,” Laukes said. The executives at Toyota did not have an easy time making a decision on which NGB’s to partner with, but decided on the six sports after an extensive portfolio review. We will likely be back, though not sure about every week. With that goal in mind, Toyota wanted to make sure it partnered not only with Olympic sports but also Paralympic sports. Anyhow, a fun place and the staff we talked to were all great. I was hoping that meant we'd get extra time on the wave, but they stuck to the half-hour and just shut things down early as well. Our session on the water was to go from 16:00 until 16:30, but we managed to start about 15 minutes early. As for me, I had a good time, though do feel they could have let us go a bit longer given that there was nobody else there. By the end she was declaring it the best thing ever and wanted to come back ever week. She was a bit traumatized but was eventually coaxed on to the boogie board, first sitting with Dominique and eventually on her own. She got taken for a tougher-than-expected ride and appeared a bit shell shocked at the top. Things started out a bit rough as my daughter wasn't expecting the current to be that strong when we went for the first test slide up the "wave". Took the initiation package with my 6-year old daughter and had a great time, in part due to the very bubbly instructor, Dominique. ![]() Everyone agreed the kids had a great time, and I am sure we will try and link the kids up for another tryout there. Big shout out and thanks to Maeva Surf for our great surf outing. the only complaint anyone had at the party was that we stayed too long, as we stayed quite a bit after the scheduled wave and party room time because we all had such a great time. The girls told me the wave was very good and the surface below is some kind of trampoline, so that is also an advantage they appreciated. There is seating behind glass right by the surfers so you see up close. Staff took good care of the group of kids throughout the party and gave me a very easy time with inclusive options for catering, party decor, and help. The place and people have a very relaxed happy vibe. When we arrived, we were instantly very impressed with the lovely bright well lit and sunny location, a nice upgrade on where we have been before. Things went great from the very beginning to make arrangements, staff were very patient and kind and took time to care to check any details, and assure following up on everything. However, this was definitely a lot more convenient for my daughter's birthday party, so we decided we would try it out. ![]() ![]() They have always told us the other was better, and did not want to go to Maeva Surf. We have previously been to another company's indoor surf wave along with cousins who go there.
